Director - Sean O'Meara
Having been an internationaly active athlete, Sean understands where sport ca take children, youth and adults. As an amature boxer, Dean has spent over 15 years competing and coaching which has given him an intimate understanding of the benefit of sport and how best to commuicate and market Oakville as a hub for sport and participation.
While a resident of Oakville for close to thirty years, Sean has been involved in various sports organizations. He recognizes the quality sport programs that produce excellent athletes - and that these participants and their enthusiasm shoul be utilized to highlight the benefits of sport in Oakville.
Through hsi graduate work, he attained certain skill sets that include critical analysis, project development and implementation and writing and publishing in peer review journals.
Through his experience woking for MPP Kevin Flynn, Sean has experience in writing successful grant applications, vetting similar applications, navigating through the Ministerial chalenges to secure funding and promotion, as well as writing press releases, statements, briefing notes and media pieces.
In is capcity as a coach for McGrory's boxing clube, Sean has helped organize large events with attendance close to 2000 people. He has taken part in Pan American Games' trials, the Canada Winter Games and numerous national and provincial championships. These experiences have given Sean a strom understanding of logistics, passion, energy and dedication needed to plan, run and degrief an event.
